The game plan of the Coca-Cola Classic Pee Wee Invitational Hockey Tournament is to invite some of the top U13 teams from various hockey towns in British Columbia, Alberta, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. These kids are invited to one of the most prestigious hockey tournaments in Canada. This 4 day tournament has had over 120 NHL players play in it throughout its 50 year history.
The Goal of the Coca-Cola Classic is to raise funds to meet financial requirements for next years tournament like sanctions, rentals, fees, licenses, and much more. Not only do we raise funds for those necessities, but we also raise funds for scholarships, charitable donations, local sports programs, community causes, and other ways to help out in the community.
The reward is to give these kids a hockey tournament experience they will remember for a lifetime. Over 20 Vernon Alumni have been drafted in the NHL, some have received the ultimate hockey reward... The Stanley Cup. Kids that enter this tournament can look up to these Alumni and maybe one day, they will have that same chance for that reward. They may also remember that the Classic had a small part in it.
During the tournament, most participants who are visiting our community, will extend their stay and take advantage of all that Vernon has to offer, such as Skiing some of the best powder in the world, exploring some of Vernon’s newest and oldest establishments, take part in the Vernon Winter Carnival events or visiting some of our award winning vineyards.
